Art influenced by life

Sometimes to help foster inspiration for painting, photography or other methods of using art to express themes I head to a nearby coffee shop and drink in the atmosphere. Currently I am sitting in a coffee shop with paintings of the coffee shop hanging on the wall. The interesting thing is that the colours are augmented and the faces on the people are blank. You can still tell how the people in the paintings feel based on the body language.

I didn’t think I should actually paint what I see in my situations like this artist has. I tend to enjoy painting more abstract images but perhaps it is time to start a slightly more realistic painting.
